Watch this video to know more about how the North American Competitiveness Council (NACC), aka Big Business/the corporatists, is lobbying government to expedite “regulatory harminization” with respect to everything from environmental standards to border security in the so-called SPP, Security, Peace and Prosperity initiative. Did you notice that the host said legislative aides hadn’t heard of this? The repercussions of this are staggering to consider. Canadians should not allow this to continue. As they say on this video, the people and legislative bodies must do all they can to get a ‘renegotiation of NAFTA’ and a public disclosure of what the governments have been doing behind closed doors for these “Security”, “Peace” and “Prosperity” meetings. What the lady said in the video is right: you gotta be suspicious of an initiative named like this, in a kind of “codespeak”. This is the end of national sovereignty, kids. Harmonization is really integration. As the lady said, the main concerns are the human rights and moral considerations. Do Canadians really want to stand next to this corporatist bully to the south? Orwell warned us, “The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects.” These are ruthless attacks on civil liberties and democratic processes that we witness going on around the world and under the auspices of NATO, with the rest of us turning a blind eye. Why all the hubbub about ’security’? They know people will eventually express their dissent and that “the countervailing forces” set up by our founding fathers, in Canada and the US, could and will be used against them. Will an informed citizenry let them succeed?
